My Life Verse
This verse was brought to my attention by an inmate at a prison I was working at in Florida in a way that only God could have dreamed of. I was working the the legal library at a prison in Florida and always listened to the WayFM station on my way to and from work, as well as in my office. One day I sent an email to to the station to tell them how much I enjoyed the morning show and how greatful was for the station as I made my drive to and from work everyday. A few days later my email was read on the air by the morning show hosts and many people commented on my email. A few days leter I recieved a note from an inmate in solitary confinement thanking me. He listened to WayFM and heard my email being read. He wanted said that he often thought he was the only Christian at the prison and was so glad to know he was not alone, even in his confinement. He wrote this verse at the bottom of the note and it has hit home for me many times since.
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you." Jeremiah 29:11-12
A few days after recieving the note I sent another email to the station telling them about the note and the verse. That evening one of the morning show hosts called me at home in tears. He was so moved by the simple fact that my sharing my joy for the music touched even the most "dispicable" of lives. The following day the morning show hots talked about the story again. It became obvious that God's plan for my working in a prison had nothing to do with my work at all. Two days later I was terminated by the prison...due to budget cuts. God did have a plan for me and I thank him everyday!
